Prefer Blondes?
Here at the roastery, we found the recent commotion around 'Blonde' coffee quite entertaining. The fact that a sizable percentage of the coffee drinking public prefer a lighter style roast is not new news. That is why we have been offering a great product like Northern Lights for 11 years. In fact, it is our roastmaster's favourite coffee. So, if you are not a dark coffee lover, check out Northern Lights in the SHOP and compare it to the new ... Continue Reading
New RFA Sumatran Arrives
We're delighted that 100% Rainforest Alliance certified coffee from some very special origins is starting to arrive at the roastery. These new crop arrivals are exciting in their unique quality dimensions, and contribute to the distinctive flavours and aromas that you can only find in Muskoka Roastery blends. A good example is the new RFA Sumatra Mandheling Grade 1 from the Aceh province. In this part of Indonesia, coffee comes fro... Continue Reading
Investing In Our Future
This month, we were pleased to host an event at our new factory in Huntsville that was focused on growth, investment and opportunities for young graduates. Muskoka has not been immune to the economic challenges experienced by much of North America, with more factory and resort closings. Against that backdrop, the announcements made today were welcome news for many members of the community who joined us at the roastery. Tony Cle... Continue Reading

Global Importance of Canada's Boreal Forest
A report from the Pew Environmental Group, published in March 2011, contains some interesting findings, as well as implications for us at the Muskoka Roastery. There are 5 mainly intact boreal forest regions on earth and Canada’s is the largest, accounting for 54% of the total. Our boreal forest contains 25% of the world’s wetlands, and more surface water than any other continental landscape. The tropical rainforest gets much more... Continue Reading
Contest Prizes Awarded
Congratulations to Erin Card of Ajax and Jean Hoult of Scarborough - winners of the Muskoka Roastery gift baskets. Both winners entered via the Cottage Life website and were chosen from among the 3000 entrants. We hand-delivered their hand-crafted prizes on June 3rd and were pretty pleased that our winners live about 10 minutes from one another. Jean is a past cottager and Erin is in the market for a cottage as we speak. Hopefully, our coffee... Continue Reading
New Print Advertising
Our second print execution, Regina Island, broke in magazines in April. We shot the ad on October 12th, 2010 at Regina Island on Lake Muskoka. Most cottagers had already closed up at Thanksgiving and this was the final outing for Wenonah II before being shut down in Gravenhurst for the winter. So, it was quiet. Ross and Jean Purdy graciously agreed to welcome us to their magical little island and allow us access to the cottage which had alre... Continue Reading
