Technically, we should have named this coffee Loon Calls because the common loon found in Muskoka actually has four distinct calls - the tremolo, wail, yodel, and hoot. The tremolo, which sounds like a crazy laugh, is the most familiar and distinctive call, and is used to signal alarm or worry.

You are more likely to hear the wail in the morning, as you enjoy your coffee and danish, when loons signal that they want to move closer together or that it is safe for the chicks to join them for food.
