The Challenge | 24 Hour Marathon Paddling
The Challenge is a film about challenging personal limits, set against the backdrop of an endurance paddling event through traditional Algonquin territory.
The characters in the film range from semi-professional to first-time paddlers, who share a common bond of wanting to explore what they are capable of accomplishing, in an environment that eliminates any notions of a comfort zone.
The race took place in September 2021, over a 110km course that stretched each and every participant. We can learn from, and be inspired by, individuals who set aside any notions of personal limits, as they realize previously unexplored potential.

CPAWS is focused on conserving nature to respond to the dual crises of accelerated biodiversity loss and climate change. With almost 60 years of success, they are Canada’s leader in conservation and have played a lead role in the protection of over half a million square kilometres – an area bigger than the entire Yukon Territory.
Their vision is that at least half of land, freshwater and ocean in Canada remain permanently protected to sustain nature and people for current and future generations.

Like us, CPAWS believes that the best way to engage individuals in protecting Canada’s natural wonders is to connect them to nature through outdoor experiences – experiences, for example, like a 24 hour marathon paddle.
Time spent outdoors in these natural spaces forms a deeper appreciation for our rivers, lakes, lands and wildlife that, we hope, leads us all to work toward preserving them.
If you are looking for ways to contribute, we invite you join CPAWS in taking action.
