Espresso Cinnamon Buns
Introducing Muskoka Roastery Espresso Cinnamon Buns, perfect for enjoying on chilly mornings with your favourite cup of Muskoka Roastery coffee or a shot of espresso.
Everyone is busy in the mornings! To make this recipe a little easier to make, we've included two hacks to shorten your time in the kitchen without sacrificing flavour: use premade pizza dough and cook using an air fryer!
1 Pizza Dough (uncooked)
Filling
- ⅔ cup (142g) dark brown sugar (light brown sugar also works)
- 1 ½ tablespoons ground cinnamon
- ¼ cup (57g) butter, softened
Frosting
- 4 oz of softened cream cheese
- 3 tablespoons of softened butter
- 1 cup of powdered sugar
- 1 shot of Muskoka Roastery Organic Espresso
Recipe:
-
- To create the rolls, first, mix the filling ingredients together and set aside.
- Roll out the prepared pizza dough into a 3/4-inch thick rectangle.
- Spread filling out over the entire dough.
- Roll the dough along the longest side of the dough to create the most rolls.
- Slice the dough into 6 to 8 rounds.
- Preheat your air fryer or oven to 350F.
- Line the air fryer basket or a pan with parchment paper and, place the rolls into the pan, cut side up, and bake for around 20 minutes. The tops of the rolls should be browned, and the bottom of the rolls should be fully cooked but not dry.
- Beat cream cheese and butter until smooth and well combined using a hand mixer or stand mixer (we've upgraded since the Pumpkin Spice Cake video).
- Add powdered sugar and your shot of espresso, continuing to mix until all ingredients are thoroughly combined.
- Mix until the frosting reaches your desired consistency; add milk to thin the mixture out or more powdered sugar to thicken it up.
- Dollop your desired amount of frosting onto the top of your cinnamon buns (we believe that the more frosting, the better! ).
Plate and enjoy!
